Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Tesco replaced its existing supermarket in Bedworth  by creating a store of 60,000 sq ft - more than double the present store size. It submitted a planning application in October 2010.Friends of the Earth Nuneaton objected to the plans.


Cheylesmore, Coventry

Residents fighting plans to turn a derelict Cheylesmore pub site into an Asda supermarket have come up with an alternative proposal of their own. Traders in a Coventry parade fought a long battle to stop a Tesco store opening on derelict land on the corner of Holyhead Road and Grayswood Avenue, in Coundon.
