Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf

Lidl has submitted an application to transform the former council depot, on Rhondda Road, into a store. Rhondda Cynon Taf councillors have undertaken a site visit. The plans have been recommended for approval by planning officers.

Residents are concerned that the store, which is out of town, would take away trade from existing shops and also increase traffic.


Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf


In 2008 Rhondda's planning committee turned down a proposal from Tesco to build a store on the 2.3 hectare Ynys Field next to the Lord Tonypandy pub and half a mile from the town centre. In October 2008 Tesco lodged an appeal against the decision.
