Campaigning to curb supermarket power

Winterton, Lincolnshire

Residents formed a group called "Winterton Says No to Tesco" after hearing that Tesco is applying for planning consent to North Lincolnshire Council to open a Tesco Express on the site of a local pub called the Cross Keys. This building is a grade 2 listed building in a small rural village and we have many concerns about tesco coming to our village, concerns include, increased traffic onto what is already a dangerously small road with very limited access within yards of a local primary school and child care facility, also this would have a detrimental effect on the already well established small local businesses we already have.

We have a population of around 5,000 and the general feeling has been that Tesco's is neither wanted or needed in our village.
